The Hull Box Cup is the biggest Olympic Style Boxing Tournament in England for Minors, Schools, Junior & Youth Boxers.
The event was created to give opportunities to the younger boxers like the Annual Haringey Box Cup gives the Youth & Senior Boxers. Hull Box Cup 2015 was the first time a school boy competition of this magnitude had been done in the North of England. Similar opportunities take place in Bristol & Dublin and various other countries, however having felt more could be done for the younger generation the Hull Box Cup was set up in 2015 and has now become an annual event.
The interest in the tournament has been overwhelming, and exceeded expectations for its first years. We’ve had a very high calibre of Boxers enter the tournament over the years, and attracted participants from all over England, Europe and as far as Australia.
These types of opportunities for the younger boxers is a great stepping stone preparing them for international competitions. Luke Campbell becoming Olympic Gold Medalist has really inspired the younger generation & being such a great role model has really brought big Boxing to our City, the Hull Box Cup is just the first of many big events for our Amateur Boxers.
Quote from Richard Cawthorn (Yorkshire Boxing Secretary/England Boxing) “The Yorkshire Boxing Association were proud to be involved with the Hull Box Cup 2015, this is the biggest boxing event in the history of the Yorkshire Boxing Association. The Box Cup brings hundreds of young boxers together to compete over 3 days in this prestigious event based in the City. Hull is fast becoming a boxing capital, the city now has 12 amateur clubs packed with kids of all ages, all with the ambition to become the next Luke Campbell”
The open class competition is open to any Club that is a federation member of a Country that is a member of AIBA.
